Artificial intelligence is playing a growing role in Gulf oilfield operations, particularly in predictive maintenance. At ADIPEC 2025 in Abu Dhabi, FutureMain presented its ExRBM platform as part of that broader industry shift toward data-driven asset management.

The company described ExRBM as an AI-powered system designed to detect equipment anomalies in real time and issue early warnings before failures occur. Built to analyze condition data from machinery such as pumps and compressors, the platform is intended to help operators anticipate maintenance requirements rather than respond to unplanned shutdowns. Company representatives said the system delivers actionable and explainable insights, underscoring the industry’s increasing emphasis on tools that field engineers can apply in daily operations.

FutureMain also used the conference to expand its partnership network. During ADIPEC, the company signed memorandums of understanding with several partners, including the Germany-based firm Framence GmbH. According to company statements, the agreements are aimed at integrating predictive analytics with complementary digital technologies, reflecting a push toward more comprehensive solutions across upstream operations.

In Saudi Arabia, FutureMain announced it had completed a proof of concept for its AI-driven maintenance system with Saudi Aramco. The company indicated that, following the proof of concept, it plans to move into a pilot upgrade phase in early 2025. That progression, from validation to potential operational deployment, marks a step toward broader adoption, though full-scale implementation remains subject to operator evaluation.

Predictive maintenance has long been promoted as a means of reducing unplanned downtime and improving asset reliability. Yet adoption varies depending on asset base, cost structures and operational priorities. Demonstrations and partnership agreements such as those highlighted at ADIPEC illustrate how technology providers are seeking to align advanced analytics with regional requirements. As Gulf producers continue assessing digital tools to enhance performance, the outcomes of these early deployments could influence the pace of adoption across the sector.
